This iconic tour mixes history and culture with a great day of entertainment and shopping!
- Begin with a ferry trip to Robben Island, a half hour trip across Table Bay to the famous world heritage site where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for nearly 30 years. Not always a prison, it served as a training and defence station in World War II and a hospital (1846-1931) for people with leprosy and the mentally and chronically ill who were outcasts of society.
- A tour of the island will include a visit to the Maximum Security Prison, interaction with an ex-political prisoner, a 45-minute bus ride with a guide providing commentary and the opportunity to explore the Murray's Bay Harbour precinct attractions, such as the Muslim shrine, or Kramat, and the Museum Shop.
- Return by ferry to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront where you will enjoy lunch at one of the many waterfront eateries and have the opportunity to shop at South Africa's most visited destination, with over 400 retail outlets selling everything from fashion, home ware and curios, to jewellery, leather goods and audiovisual equipment.
